CAMPUS Asia Joint Seminar was held
We held a joint event with our partner institutions, Korea’s KDI School and China’s Tsinghua University, School of Public Policy & Management for the dates from December 2 to 4. This event wrapped up our activities in the CAMPUS Asia Program, which will be completed in March 2016 in Japan. The faculty and staff members as well as the students from the three institutions got together, finding a common window in our three different academic calendars. The main activity of the event was the joint seminar that took place on the 2nd day, followed by a city excursion around Tokyo on the 3rd day. Here’s what happened in the seminar.
Opening
Prof. Oyama made the opening remark and kicked off the seminar.
Total five students from the three institutions delivered their presentations in the sessions of the morning and the afternoon. After their presentations, they had active discussions with the audience. From GRIPS, Mr. Jikichiro Matsubara, Security and International Studies Program, spoke on the theme of “Modernization efforts of the Imperial Japanese Army”. CAMPUS Asia Exchange Students’ Speeches
In this session, ex- and current CAMPUS Asia exchange students delivered their speeches about their experiences. From GRIPS, Ms. Lena Okada, Cultural Policy Program, who studied at KDI School for the 2015 spring semester, delivered her speech. Ms. Chen Weiwei, a student of Tsinghua University and currently studying in GRIPS as a special credited auditor, and Mr. Lee Dong Joon, a student of KDI School and currently an MP1 student at GRIPS for double degree, delivered theirs.
Round Table Discussion
Three students each from the three institutions engaged in a discussion with “Future of the Relationship among China, Korea and Japan” as theme. Below is the list of the representatives from each institution.
Closing
With the closing remarks by the three CAMPUS Asia Directors including Prof. Nobuhiro Hosoe from GRIPS, the seminar was concluded. We then had a photo session involving the CAMPUS Asia faculty and staff members, the seminar presenters and the audience.
